    Department Summary
The Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success (UESS) promotes academic excellence, universal access, engagement, and achievement for the student scholar. UESS programs focus on the educational trajectory of the student by providing opportunities and services essential for progress toward scholastic objectives and intellectual development. UESS departments and programs serve the entire population of UO undergraduate students and partner closely with other campus units to support student success and engagement. UESS serves as an institutional leader in promoting student success and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the UO student experience.

DucksRISE (Research, Internship, and Student Engagement) is a grant-funded program focused on equitable career outcomes for underserved students, centering Pell-eligible and underrepresented minority populations. Through an integrated approach to continued academic preparation and career readiness embedded into the core of the student experience, both in and out of the classroom at an R1 research university, DucksRISE will establish best practices for an equity-centered cohort-based career development program.
    Position Summary
The Program Manager will implement and guide DucksRISE (Research, Internship, and Student Engagement), a program that focuses on equitable post-graduation outcomes for underserved students, centering Pell-eligible and underrepresented minority populations. The Program Manager position is supported by a two-year grant, and may be extended pending funding feasibility and programmatic needs.

The Program Manager will lead a diverse stakeholder team to develop DucksRISE, partnering with key UESS partners including the Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence (CMAE), Center for Undergraduate Research and Engagement (CURE), Office of Distinguished Scholarships (ODS), PathwayOregon, Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program, TRIO Student Support Services, Tutoring and Academic Engagement Center (TAEC), and Tykeson College and Career Advising. Concurrently, the Program Manager will foster collaborations with campus, community, alumni, government, industry partners outside of UESS. Strategic partner engagement includes the newly established UO Portland Internship program committed to social justice, community building, racial equity, and economic recovery.

In concert with these key partners, the Program Manager will develop and manage an intensive, six-month cohort model. DucksRISE cohorts will begin with a hybrid credit-bearing course and associated co-curricular workshops and professional development opportunities intended to build community and foster a sense of belonging while developing career skills and NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) competencies. The Program Manager is expected to serve as an instructor of record for the credit-bearing course, and facilitate engaging curricular and co-curricular experiences for the cohort. The core of the DucksRISE program will culminate with placement in three-month career readiness mentorship experiences (e.g. internships, externships, research/creative work experiences) to expand professional and industry networks; bridge the connection between undergraduate research and career exploration; and gain the tools to be competitive in post-graduation opportunities. Throughout and beyond the six-month cohort experience, the Program Manager will arrange for continuous and focused wrap-around coaching and support from academic and career advisors, as well as peer-to-peer, alumni, and professional mentoring.

The Program Manager will develop DuckRISE with the intent to create replicable and scaled offerings to serve increasing portions of the target student population. DucksRISE will focus exclusively on expanding exploration and preparation for career readiness opportunities, the development of mentorship connections, and professional networks for students with those who share similar identities and interests.

This position may supervise one full-time professional staff member (DucksRISE program assistant).
