Position Summary
The Director of University Housing for Residence Life and Educational Initiatives, a key leadership position within University Housing, is responsible for building an inclusive community in which students interact respectfully and positively as part of an enriching educational experience. The Director supports the learning of undergraduate and graduate students, partners closely with colleagues across campus in meeting the needs of students and the goals of the University. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Services and Enrollment Management and Director of University Housing, the Director will join a collaborative team dedicated to students and their success.
The Director oversees the following:
Additionally, the Director partners with many departments to create, support, and achieve successful living-learning communities, and to expand the learning outcomes and co-curricular academic initiatives throughout the residential community system. Ultimately, the living-learning communities of University Housing aspire to broaden first-year and returning students' vision of what it means to be a "learner" at a liberal arts academy and research institution; deepen students' understanding of how knowledge is created and disseminated; and integrate their residential and academic lives.
The Director effectively partners with all Housing units to accomplish the strategic plan of University Housing. A principal pedagogical objective of the Director is to expand the academic enterprise beyond the walls of the classroom and foster out-of-class interaction between students, staff, and faculty so that learning and academics become an integral and essential part of the residential experience.
This position has reporting obligations under Title IX and the Clery Act. This position has been identified as being a Designated Reporter under Title IX and a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act, and as such, must adhere to Title IX "responsible employee" definition, obligations, and training and Clery Act required reporting responsibilities and CSA training.
This position reports to the Associate Vice President, Student Services and Enrollment Management, Director for University Housing.
