SUMMARY
SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for an Assistant Coordinator of Events and Equipment. Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Women's Administrator, this position plays a critical role in supporting the continued growth of SUNY Brockport Athletics. With an increasing number of home contests, expanded facility usage, and a strategic emphasis on developing summer camps and external programming, this 12-month position ensures consistent, high-quality operations throughout the calendar year. This role supports event and facility operations as well as equipment management, while also contributing to revenue-generating initiatives and enhancing the student-athlete and fan experience.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions:
Event and Facilities Operations
- Assists with the oversight and execution of event management for all intercollegiate athletic contests, supporting a growing home event schedule across 24 varsity programs.
- Supports the hiring, training, and scheduling of student staff, including supervisors, event staff, and building managers.
- Assists with game day operations including event setup, breakdown, and facility changeovers.
- Serves as a Building Manager for the Tuttle Complex, ensuring safe, efficient daily operations.
- Plays a key role in coordinating athletic facility usage, balancing the needs of varsity programs, campus partners, and external groups.
- Assists with the scheduling, coordination, and administration of external facility rentals and events, contributing to increased facility utilization and revenue generation.
- Supports the continued growth and development of summer camps and external programming, including logistical planning, staffing, and facility coordination.
- Assists in maintaining and improving athletic facilities through collaboration with facilities and maintenance staff, including development of routine maintenance and cleaning schedules.
- Adheres to all campus cash handling and operational policies.
- Attends and helps lead weekly operations meetings and departmental staff meetings.
- Assists with the daily operations of the equipment room, supporting all 24 varsity programs.
- Oversees laundry operations, including collection, cleaning, storage, and distribution of uniforms, practice gear, towels, and related items.
- Assists with the supervision, training, and scheduling of student workers in the equipment room.
- Maintains and updates equipment room policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Manages equipment room hours during the academic year and coordinates staffing for nights, weekends, and summer operations.
- Maintains a comprehensive, computerized inventory system for all athletic apparel and equipment, including tracking vendor, purchase date, and condition.
- Assists with the issuance, tracking, and return of equipment for student-athletes and staff.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
- Minimum of one year of experience working in athletic event management or in a comparable work environment
- Excellent management and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Weekend and evening hours are required
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Work Schedule:
37.5 hours/week: Monday-Friday, 9 am - 5pm, nights and weekends required.
