Associate Director, Student Financial Services

St. Thomas Aquinas College is seeking an Associate Director of Student Financial Services to assist in the administration of student financial aid programs and accounts receivable operations. This role supports the strategic, technical, and operational functions of the Student Financial Services office, including financial aid awarding, loan administration, compliance reporting, and student account management.

The Associate Director works closely with the Director of Student Financial Services and collaborates with Admissions, Registrar, HEOP, and other campus departments to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations while providing high-quality service to students and families.

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
  • Assist in administering federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, including grants, loans, scholarships, and work-study.
  • Manage loan processing, Pell Grant origination and disbursements, verification processes, and ISIR data processing within the Banner system.
  • Oversee accounts receivable functions including tuition and fee assessment, billing, and collections.
  • Ensure compliance with Title IV federal regulations, New York State financial aid programs (including TAP), and institutional policies.
  • Assist with financial aid reporting requirements, including FISAP and ECAR reporting.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Registrar, HEOP, and other campus offices to support student enrollment and financial aid processes.
  • Provide guidance to students and families regarding financial aid eligibility and payment options.
  • Support system administration and financial aid operations within the Ellucian Banner system, including updates and reconciliation processes.
  • Participate in orientation, open houses, and other enrollment-related campus events.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in student financial services or financial aid administration
  • Experience with federal and state financial aid programs
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Banner experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of financial aid regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience with institutional aid leveraging and private college financial operations
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent communication and student service skills
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and manage complex processes

Salary
The salary range for this position is $68,000-$74,000.
