SUMMARY

SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for two temporary part-time Student Success summer assistants. The summer assistants are a part of the state-of-the-art Academic Success Center, which opened in 2017 in the heart of the SUNY Brockport campus. Working with a team of dedicated, student-centered professionals in the Center, the assistants will aid and support the Assistant Director in planning, implementing, executing and assessing various transition, new student, engagement and retention programs. Particular emphasis will be placed on work with Golden Eagle Orientation, new student and family communication, and the Emerging Scholars Bridge Program. Employment would begin May 2026 through August 2026.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions:
  • Serves on the planning team for Golden Eagle Orientation, Parent and Family Communication and Initiatives, the Emerging Scholars Bridge Program and other ASC-based student leadership and engagement initiatives.
  • Helps with budgeting, designing marketing materials, presenting information sessions, customer service calls, etc.
  • Assists in the onboarding and training of Golden Eagle Orientation Leaders and Student Orientation Coordinators.
  • Works closely with the Assistant Director in the planning, implementation, execution and assessment of the Golden Eagle Orientation program for the Class of 2030.


REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree by June 2026 from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
  • Experience working in the post-secondary environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with students and peers in a developmental and supportive manner
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Enrollment in a master's degree program in higher education/student affairs administration or a related field accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
  • Experience in marketing, recruitment, and development of student engagement programs

Work Schedule:

20-27 hours/week: Monday-Friday, flexible in office schedule
Benefits:
This position will be paid a $5,000 stipend and is not benefits eligible.
