Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and two years of related professional experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Fraternity or sorority membership is preferred.
Experience working in a college or university setting is preferred.
Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama's department of Student Involvement is seeking to hire a Coordinator, Fraternity and Sorority Life. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.Essential Functions
- Supports the overall development, success, and retention of students involved in Fraternity and Sorority life.
- Advises councils and chapters, coordinates leadership and educational programming, and ensures equitable access to resources.
- Assists in providing programs and services that enhance student development for all members of our Fraternity and Sorority community at the University of South Alabama.
- Ensures that student needs are met in a fair and equitable manner for the College Panhellenic Council (CPC), Interfraternity Council (IFC) and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) to promote retention and enhance leadership development within the entire Fraternity and Sorority Life community
- Serves as primary or secondary advisor to the CPC, IFC, and/or NPHC Council officers and chapter Presidents.
- Supports membership recruitment efforts for the CPC, IFC, and/or NPHC.
- Serves as advisor to the Order of Omega Honor Society and support recruitment/membership selection for the organization.
- Assists in the management of the annual budget for Fraternity and Sorority Life.
- Sponsors educational programs for community members in areas such as academic success, Greek Convocation, substance misuse, mental health, intercultural relations, well-being, campus policies, risk management, and other critical areas related to Fraternity and Sorority Life.
- Performs administrative tasks such as the management of the CPC, IFC, and NPHC organizations at the local and national levels.
- Accompanies students to regional and national conferences as needed and as appropriate.
- Maintains an effective working relationship with advisors and officers of CPC, IFC, and NPHC organizations at the local and national levels.
- Assists with the facilitation of the Fraternity and Sorority awards process, including the execution of an end-of-year banquet.
- Helps maintain the assessment plan and suggests policy updates for Fraternity and Sorority Life.
- Assists in the management of all digital media efforts for Fraternity and Sorority Life, including submitting EMS event reservations and providing oversight for InvolveSouth, social media, and website content.
- Monitors risk management exposure associated with Fraternity and Sorority Life programming.
- Participates in department and division professional development activities.
- Maintains active participation in professional associations such AFA, NASPA, and SACSA.
- Serves as an event planning resource for campus, while having an understanding of University policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with University policies, and local, state and federal laws.
- Collaborates with colleagues in the division and across campus to provide a comprehensive student life experience while maintaining a commitment to learning and professional development.
- Develops collaborative relationships with faculty and staff for purposes of increasing student involvement, building community, and creating co-curricular student development opportunities.
- Performs all functions and responsibilities of Campus Security Authority, as defined by the Clery Act.
- Serves on University and Division Committees representing the Fraternity and Sorority Life as assigned.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
- Related duties as required.
