SUMMARY
SUNY Brockport invites applications for the Assistant Professor position in the Department of Educational Administration for the Doctor of Educational Leadership program. This position encompasses a comprehensive array of responsibilities central to advancing academic excellence and intellectual discourse. The successful candidate will be tasked with delivering high-quality instruction, guiding doctoral candidates through rigorous research endeavors, conducting innovative investigations, disseminating knowledge through peer-reviewed publications, nurturing students' personal and professional growth, ensuring program relevance and rigor, and fostering a collaborative, inclusive academic environment that promotes the exchange of ideas and the advancement of the field. This is a full-time, 12-month tenure track position.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions:
Teaching (50%)
- Expected 4-4-2 course load with two course release for active scholarship.
- Teaches graduate-level (post-masters) online courses.
- Provides dissertation advisement and serves as chair of the dissertation committee.
- Contributes to curriculum design and development.
- Provides academic advisement and mentorship.
- Engages in scholarly research and publication in state, national, and/or international venues on an annual basis.
- Performs service to the department, school, and University as assigned by the Director of the Educational Leadership Program or Department Chair, including regular student advising and dissertation duties.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD or EdD in Educational Leadership, Organizational Communication, or related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college. ABD candidates must earn their degree within 6 months of hire
- Experience teaching graduate-level research online courses at an accredited higher education institution
- Experience teaching SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) in an online environment
- Doctoral-level advisement and dissertation committee experience at an accredited higher education institution
- Experience in teaching design/methodology
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- On-campus presence is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Evidence of acquired grants and implementation for research
- Published peer-reviewed articles or books published by academic press, lead author publications, and conference presentations
- Contributions to the community outside of higher education institutions
- Evidence of curriculum development and program evaluation
- Success in administering programs in higher education, including strategic planning, effective communications, operations, and collaboration with colleagues
- Understanding policies, best practices, challenges, and opportunities in complex, diverse organizations
- Experience developing experiential educational platforms
