SUMMARY

The School of Business and Management at SUNY Brockport invites applications for a tenure-track Instructor position in the Department of Accounting, Economics, and Finance, beginning August 2026. We are seeking a candidate to teach courses in both Accounting and Finance. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching 12 credit hours per semester (24 credits total per year); advising students; maintaining an active and scholarly research agenda; and contributing service to the department, college, university, and community. The School of Business and Management maintains approximately 900 undergraduate and graduate students and is accredited by AACSB.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions:
Teaching (70%)

  • Expected 4-4 course load with varying days, times, and modality. Teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in accounting and finance.
  • Participates in assessment and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Engages in experiential and hands-on education.
  • Works effectively with a diverse student body.
  • Maintains an appropriate student advising load.
Service (20-25%)
  • Engages in enrollment and retention initiatives.
  • Regularly attends University events.
  • Actively participates in service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.
Scholarly Activity (5-10%)
  • Engages in scholarly activity to produce high quality publications.
  • Maintains an active research agenda that will lead to scholarly publications in journals that are peer or editorially reviewed and recognized in their respective discipline as being credible.


REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Relevant master's degree (or equivalent) from an institution accredited by AACSB and the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college
  • Experience in effective teaching in various areas of accounting and finance (including tax and statistics). Courses may be at the undergraduate and graduate levels, in person, online, and/or hybrid
  • Peer review publications and/or work in progress and/or strong research plan
  • Ability to teach in a multicultural environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD or other appropriate terminal degree in accounting, finance, business or other relevant field
  • Relevant work experience in accounting and finance
  • Professional accounting or finance certifications such as the CPA, CMA, CFA, EA
  • Experience with or knowledge of data analytics
  • Record of high-quality teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level
  • Willingness to work with students outside the classroom on impactful engagement such as the CASH VITA program and student-managed investment fund
