SUMMARY
The Athletics Department at SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for a Strength and Conditioning Head Coach. Reporting directly to the Director of Athletics, the successful candidate will be responsible for the organization and supervision of the strength and conditioning activities for SUNY Brockport's 24 sport NCAA Division III athletic program. This is a 12-month, benefits eligible position. Weekend, holiday, early morning and/or late night evening hours are required.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential Job Functions:
- Athlete Training
- Programming
- Equipment maintenance
- Budgeting
- Scheduling
- Develops training programs based on individual athletes and team/program needs
- Creates and implements policies and procedures for the strength and conditioning program in accordance with the NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards
- Schedules team training times and individual training sessions
- Collaborates with coaches and athletic training staff on overall conditioning, rehabilitation, and welfare of student athletes.
- Supervises assistant strength and conditioning coaches, interns, and practicum students
- Works with facilities staff to ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of the Bill Steele Athlete weight room
- Submits an annual budget to the athletic director and recommend the ordering of equipment, supplies and routine maintenance.
- Keeps abreast of and comply with the NCAA rules and regulations. This includes but is not limited to taking?and passing?the annual NCAA?Division III?rules test
- Performs administrative duties including maintaining equipment?inventory, monitoring?budget, and correspondence?with athletic administration and support staff
- Serves as leader, mentor, and role model for the Department of Athletics
- Attends all required staff meetings
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Sports Science, Health and Physical Education, Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, or related fields by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (NSCA)
- CPR/AED/ First Aid Certification
- Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization, and two or more years of relevant experience
- Higher education work experience
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to the Division III philosophy
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Work Schedule:
40 hours/week: Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm, some nights and weekends.
