SUMMARY

The Department of Social Work at SUNY Brockport invites applications for a temporary, full-time, Lecturer position in the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program. We seek a skilled and passionate educator with expertise in generalist social work practice, case management, policy, and macro-level interventions. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive pedagogy, equity, and preparing undergraduate students for ethical, competent entry-level social work practice.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions:

  1. Teaches 4 undergraduate social work courses per semester, with primary assignments in areas such as social work practice, case management, social welfare policy, advocacy, and macro practice.
  2. Teaches online asynchronous and synchronous classes and face to face classes
  3. Develops and updates course syllabi in alignment with CSWE competencies and department goals.
  4. Advises and mentors BSW students, including those preparing for field placement.
  5. Collaborates with colleagues on curriculum design, assessment, and accreditation-related activities.
  6. Participates actively in departmental meetings, university service, and student-focused programming.
  7. Contributes to a learning environment grounded in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches.


REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited program from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
  • Minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience, particularly in generalist, case management, or macro settings
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and social work education
  • Familiarity with CSWE accreditation standards and the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS)
  • Evidence of culturally responsive practice and inclusive teaching strategies
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior college-level teaching experience, particularly in social work or related disciplines
  • Experience in community-based practice, policy advocacy, or systems-level change
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care, harm reduction, or strengths-based case management
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation college students

Work Schedule:

40 hours/week: Monday-Friday, variable.
