The Division of Student Life supports the University's academic mission through comprehensive programs and services that promote and advance student learning and success, while fostering an inclusive and vibrant campus community. Student Life includes four departments, the University Career Center, Office of the Dean of Students, Erb Memorial Union, and Physical Education & Recreation, and a number of key programs, including the Holden Center for Leadership and Community Engagement, Parent and Family Programs, Major Student Events (Commencement, Homecoming, University Day), Student Engagement & Success (Student Government), Student Conduct and Community Standards, and Support for Students in Crisis and Students of Concern.

The Office of the Vice President for Student Life provides the vision and oversight of the Division's departments, programs, and initiatives. The Vice President's administrative staff provides key support in the areas of financial services, human resources, parent and family programming, major student event creation and management, and research and assessment.

What you will do:

The Office of the Dean of Students is excited about the opportunity to build the Student Conduct and Community Standard team by welcoming a dynamic individual as the Assistant Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards (SCCS). You will be part of a vital team that provides critical service to students and members of the university community who work with them.

The Assistant Director will oversee the daily operation and functioning of the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards (SCCS)-with primary responsibility for:

Intake and review of reports submitted to SCCS involving alleged violations of the Student Conduct Code related to academic, substance use, general, and discriminatory misconduct by individual students and student organizations in a timely manner.

Assignment of reports for adjudication by the Director, Assistant Director, and other Case Managers through the formal student conduct process.

This position reports to the Associate Dean of Students & Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards and will supervise the Student Conduct Coordinators.

This position is based on the UO Eugene campus and is not eligible for a fully remote work schedule.

What you need to qualify (minimum qualification):

Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field.

Three years of experience in student conduct administration in a University setting, or an equivalent level of student affairs, compliance, human resources, and/or legal experience.

Direct experience managing a caseload, or equivalent experience that demonstrates strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Experience with and commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Supervision experience.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulations, including in high-stakes and high-pressure contexts.

Ability to analyze problems and make well-reasoned, sound decisions in a manner that minimizes legal risk to the University.

Knowledge of student conduct administration theory and/or best practice.

Demonstrated experience in effectively managing highly confidential and sensitive matters, and ability to maintain high integrity in working with confidential information.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and other diverse groups.

Substantial conflict resolution and/or mediation skills.

Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.

It is preferred, but not required, to have (preferred qualifications):

Experience managing an advisory board or other working group.

Proficiency in Maxient (case management database software).

Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student policies and privacy records (Title IX, Clery Act, FERPA, Campus Save Act, etc.).
