Position Summary:The Student Leadership & Involvement Coordinator is an 11 month position responsible for the programming offices within the Center for Student Engagement. Must work well in a team atmosphere and be able to take a leadership role within the department.
10% Supervision Recruit, hire, train and supervise two-three student assistants. Work with student assistants to plan events for RSO's, and collaborate with CSE's other programming offices in order to connect RSO's to campus partners. Work with student assistants to provide service opportunities on and off campus, including the annual alternative spring break trip.
20% Community Services/ Alternative Spring Break Develop and implement university wide awareness programs to educate students about volunteer opportunities on campus and within the community. Oversee the student volunteer placement process and outreach to community partners. Recruit and lead the Alternative Spring Break team. Supervise the recruitment of students, site selection, and the liability assessment. Manage fundraising an average of $10,000 and the purchasing and processing of travel. Lead students through team building and debrief during AB. Responsible for safety and wellbeing of students during the trip.
30% Registered Student Organizations: Manage UAF registered student organizations (RSO) and program. This includes club registration and re-recognition, officer training, advisor training, and programming for clubs (club fairs, events). Serve as a general advisor to all RSOs, providing support and advisement when needed. Maintain the student engagement platform (Presence.io) for UAF. Serve as the expert on campus.
30% Student Leadership Development Supervise, manage, develop and administer a student leadership program that cultivates student leaders and enhances the educational experience of students. This includes workshops, book clubs, lectures, service opportunities and leadership institutes. Develop and administer the student leadership conference and retreat to include contracting with facilitators, site selection, participant recruitment, guiding the leadership and development activities through a variety of delivery methods and contexts. Coordinate and administer the Co-Curricular Opportunities for Leadership Development (COLD) certificate, which is designed to recognize and document co-curricular activities and leadership experiences and to complement a student's transcript and resume. COLD provides students with the opportunities to develop and enhance a personal philosophy of leadership that includes understanding of self, others, and community. This is in partnership with other CSE departments who offer tracks within the COLD program (sustainability, DEI, etc.) Recruit student participants and maintain appropriate records and administrative files for the COLD certificate . Work with the Graduation Office on the recognition of these students at graduation (graduation with Leadership Honors or Distinction). Collaborate with university departments and community organizations to offer programs/ events that satisfy the COLD requirements. Advise and mentor students to review their progress and evaluate their gained leadership experience. Chair the Art Buswell Scholarship Committee - committee member recruitment, application recruitment and selection of scholarship recipient.

-Ability to develop and implement policy.
-Ability to interpret and articulate changes to existing laws, policies and regulations, as well as initiate and implement changes to procedures.
-Knowledge of assessment strategies, how to implement them, and use data to improve practice.
-Capability and demonstrated experience in working with diverse students, staff and faculty.
-Responsible for fiscal management and policy development as they pertain to area of expertise.
-Ability to lead and/ supervise students
Required Experience, Education or Training
Experience in working in a university setting, preferably student affairs. Four years of experience with student programming is required, however a strong background and set of experiences appropriate for this position may also be considered.
This is a full-time, Grade 79, (minimum $26.08/hr, DOE), 11-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
