Reporting to the Assistant Director of Operations. The financial aid operations team is responsible for student loan and application processing, verifications of student eligibility, federal programs' reconciliation, Direct Loan Entrance and Exit Counseling, transfer monitoring, and Return of Title IV funding.
Essential Functions and Associated Tasks:
Loan Operations: Responsible for the oversight and daily work of processes associated with the Federal Direct Student Loan program, campus-based loan programs, and private alternative loan programs. This includes reviewing applications for eligibility, processing entrance and exit counseling, and working with student loan lenders and servicers to resolve issues and problems. 35%
Reconciliation of Programs: Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of Direct Loan programs, Pell, and Campus-Based loans. 15%
Verification Operations: Responsible for the oversight and daily work of verifying student eligibility, including completing the FAFSA verification process in compliance with FSA Application and Verification Guide, evaluating financial aid application materials and resolving discrepancies by working with students/parents. 35%
Awarding Operations: Responsible for the coordination and daily work in the support of the awarding of Federal and Private Loans, including Return of Title IV Funds. 10%
Transfer Monitoring: Evaluate and review NSLDS records of incoming Transfer Students for conflicting payment information with outside institutions. 5%
Other Duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree plus two years of experience working in a Financial Aid/ Student Account office, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Demonstrated commitment to strong customer service and the ability to resolve wide-ranging complex problems through creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of and resolution to problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
Applicant must possess the skills to trouble shoot problems for individuals and families in financial aid and student accounts matters and work both independently and cooperatively with other staff members and other departments. Detailed knowledge of federal, state and institutional financial programs and ability to learn complex financial aid regulations.
Desktop PC, ERP system and Microsoft Office Suite experience are required.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, faculty, staff and community groups.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, orally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
Ellucian Colleague ERP system experience
