Job Summary:
SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for a Facilities Project Manager. The Facilities Project Manager directs the execution of campus projects, focusing on mechanical systems. Reporting to the Director of Facilities Planning and Construction, this person will work with university facilities staff, administrators, faculty, students, contractors, the State University Construction Fund, DASNY, and design professionals for the planning, design, procurement, oversight, inspection, coordination, and commissioning of university capital projects, and small campus maintenance projects.
  • Manages all aspects of capital projects for campus academic, residence halls, service buildings and for campus infrastructure.
  • Coordinates facility programming, space planning, preliminary layouts, office moves, project budgeting, cost estimating, and scheduling.
  • Administers procurement of equipment and furnishings for facility outfitting.
  • Prepares smaller project(s) drawing and specifications for bidding.
  • Coordinates the hiring of various design and technical consultants, and the development of and/or review of construction plans, specifications, and addenda.
  • Provides bid advertising, pre-bid meetings, and pre-construction meetings with consultants and contractors.
  • Coordinates construction activities among university customers, Architect/Engineer consultants, contractors, inspection firms, and other governmental agencies; minimize disturbance of campus daily operations.
  • Reviews and/or approves contractor submittals, progress payments, payrolls, change orders, and retainage.
  • Inspects construction activities daily and monitors construction quality.
  • Monitors projects schedules and budgets, maintains project records, performs final inspections.
  • Attends or conducts design meetings, job progress meetings, and review field reports.
  • Executes project close outs, commissioning, and punch list production with Architect/Engineer, University personnel, SUCF, DASNY and contractors.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field by the time of appointment from a college or university with three years of relevant work experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree.
  • Professional experience in the planning, design, and construction of buildings.
  • Ability to multitask and manage project schedules in multiple areas such as site work, utilities, building infrastructure systems, exterior envelope systems, and MEP systems.
  • Ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships with various internal and external constituencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related discipline and five years of relevant experience in Mechanical/Electrical systems, utilities, facilities, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with computer aided drafting/AutoCAD.
  • New York State building code training and/or relevant experience.
  • Firm grasp of current energy conservation methodologies and efficient building systems.
  • Advanced education/coursework, licensed design professional as Mechanical Engineer (PE).
  • Experience in design of high-performance buildings and/or renewable energy systems.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Salary and Benefits: This salary range for this position is $76,981 - Mid 80's.
