The Center for International Education seeks applications for a Student Processing Specialist. Working as a member of a team of international education professionals, this individual is the leading frontward face and voice of the Center for International Education. The individual is the primary phone and in-person team member, providing institutional guidance for potential international students through the complex UW application process as well as assisting current UWM students in their desire to study abroad for academic credit. In addition, this individual will work in other areas of support of international student recruitment, international admissions, outreach initiatives.

The position assists with the management of office operations: coordinating hiring and training processes for front office student staff, managing daily task assignments, and ensuring the office creates a radically welcoming environment. The position calls for supervision of student staff when the Main Office Supervisor is unavailable so a working knowledge of UWM HR policies is necessary.

The individual works closely with CIE management team, and other staff to ensure the smooth operation of Center-wide activities. The individual holding this position must possess exceptional interpersonal and intercultural communication skills; be able to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and international visitors; excel at multi-tasking; possess a high level of attention to detail; demonstrate a commitment to customer service; and have prior international work or study abroad experience.
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience providing customer or administrative service to students
  • Bachelor's degree in any field by date of hire
  • Experience in secondary or higher education administrative student services
  • Experience working with and protecting confidential data
  • Demonstrated experience working with people of different cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds
