Job Summary: Provides assistance in the general oversight of the Residence Life program for the assigned on-campus housing areas. Provides support through the direct supervision of assigned staff and/or student assistants, general administration, community development, crisis management and collaboration with operations and facilities staff. Provides guidance to residents and serves as the primary conduct officer, reviewing and adjudicating student conduct cases in the assigned residential area.

Responsibilities
  1. Provides leadership, supervision, training, development and performance management for assigned staff and/or student assistants
  2. Oversees the management of student conduct and for entry-level staff and serve as a residential conduct officer for high-priority residential student cases
  3. Oversees and assists entry-level staff with the development and implementation of residential curriculum for assigned housing area
  4. Serves on departmental and university committees and task forces, and participates in professional development activities
  5. Communicates, interprets, supports and enforces department and university policies to staff and students
  6. Manages assigned staff and student assistants in assisting with turn process
  7. Maintains accessibility to staff and residents beyond traditional office hours as necessary (i.e., university events, department programming, meetings)
  8. Provides personal assistance to students through advising, counseling, discipline and crisis intervention
  9. Conducts disciplinary conferences and apply sanctions when appropriate
  10. Maintains assigned area's purchasing card (Pcard) and budget processes
  11. Assesses student and community needs and incorporates results into planning efforts

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education

Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted Georgia driver's license

Required Experience
Two (2) years of experience in higher education or a related field

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education or related field

Preferred Experience
Previous leadership and supervisory experience
Previous experience in Residence Life or Student Affairs

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of administrative systems and operational procedures and processes
  • Prior knowledge/experience in budget development, tracking, and reconciliation
  • Experience with a learning outcome based educational model in a residential or classroom context
  • Experience in planning, coordinating, and completing large-scale, detail-oriented projects and events
  • Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
  • Able to interpret and enforce policies and procedures
  • Able to promote and support the department and University's mission and goals
  • Able to provide rotating on-call emergency assistance as needed for department
  • Able to communicate with residents (and their families as needed) regarding the management of their residential living spaces
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with others and work in partnership with staff, faculty, administrators, and student leaders
  • Strong analytical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, particularly related to listening, team building, and conflict resolution
  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated crisis management skills, including problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
  • Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
  • Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
