SUMMARY


SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for the position of Title IX Coordinator. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Title IX Coordinator is charged with coordinating SUNY Brockport's Title IX compliance efforts around prevention, response and remedy regarding sex discrimination experienced by students, employees and others. The educational guidance for these efforts comes from federal and state laws and statutes including Title IX, VAWA, the Clery Act, and NYS Education Law 129B.

JOB FUNCTIONS


Essential Functions:

Institutional Monitoring and Compliance Assurance

  • Leads efforts across the University to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements as they relate to antidiscrimination laws and policies.
  • Coordinates and monitors Title IX efforts of the Deputy Title IX Coordinator(s) and University offices that receive and/or investigate complaints, including but not limited to Human Resources, Student Conduct, Residential Life and Learning Communities, University Police, and Athletics.
  • In consultation with the offices of the Student Affairs Division, Student Conduct, Human Resources, University Police and Athletics, monitors University policy and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal law and regulations.
  • Meets and communicates with reporting individuals to provide information regarding available resources and reporting and resolution options and responds appropriately, being sensitive to the nature of the complaint.
  • Conducts initial investigations on reports, and as appropriate conducts full discrimination complaint investigations.
  • Coordinates and oversees Title IX compliance in relation to the University's athletic programs and interfaces with the Director of Athletics, their staff and outside consultants.
  • Working with the Title IX Representatives Committee, develops and implements a long-term vision for the University around programs, services, education and assessment of Title IX, VAWA and NYS 129-B programs and prevention efforts, including but not limited to sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking.
  • Develops content for the University's Title IX webpage.
  • Regularly attends Title IX educational training programs to ensure compliance with Title IX investigative standards and continuously identifies and integrates best practices as they relate to Title IX processes.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records in database software, Maxient.
Education and Programming
  • Coordinates the development and delivery of University-wide education, training and outreach programming related to Title IX, VAWA and NYS 129-B.
  • Provides leadership for campus-wide initiatives that work to transform the campus culture and advance inclusivity, gender equity, and opportunities for individuals from traditionally underrepresented populations.
Annual Reporting
  • Organizes and maintains summaries of grievance files, disposition reports, and other compiled records regarding complaints of sexual harassment and other discriminatory practices, including annual descriptive reports of number and nature of filed complaints and disposition of complaints.
  • Prepares annual statistical reports for the campus community on the incidence of sexual harassment or other Title IX matters as appropriate. No information that identifies individuals will be reported in the annual statistical reports. Annual reporting shall be made to the President, SUNY System Administration, NYSED and other entities as appropriate.
  • Conducts periodic assessments of Title IX compliance activities, initiatives and strategies to assess patterns, trends and outcomes to make recommendations for future strategies and actions by appropriate decision makers.
Advisement to the University President and University Officials
  • May assist in the resolution of complex harassment and discrimination cases in conjunction with University Counsel, Human Resources and Student Affairs.
  • Provides periodic and annual reports as appropriate.
  • Advises and collaborates with the offices of the Student Affairs Division, Provost, Deans, and Department Heads and others as appropriate, on the status of initiatives, case management trends, challenges and resource needs.
Supervision
  • Supervises Deputy Title IX Coordinator(s)
Non-Essential Functions:

Department Engagement
  • Supports the overall operation of the Division of Student Affairs and contribute to the accomplishment of their mission and goals by performing other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Affairs.
  • Participates as a member of the University community by serving on various committees and task forces.


REQUIREMENTS


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or related field by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
  • Demonstrated experience of applying knowledge of Title IX regulations and state non-discrimination laws in a higher education setting
  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion, good judgment and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills; the ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs
  • Ability to oversee employees and the investigative process and review writing to ensure a high-quality product
  • Evidence of commitment to creating an inclusive environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Training in Trauma-Informed investigation techniques
  • Proven collaboration with campus partners and ability to communicate with staff at all levels of the University
  • Experience developing and providing Title IX-related programs, training, and communication initiatives
  • Experience in case management software, notably Maxient


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION


Work Schedule:

37.5 hours/week: Monday-Friday, 8 am-4 pm.
