SUMMARY
The Department of Healthcare Studies (HCS) at SUNY Brockport invites applications for a temporary full-time Lecturer position. The primary responsibilities of this role include teaching courses and advising students in the Healthcare Administration (HCA) and Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program. The successful candidate will develop and plan course content, prepare lesson plans, and evaluate student performance. In addition, they will provide academic advisement and counseling to students. This faculty member will also participate in departmental, School, and University service activities. This is a one-year appointment beginning in August 2026.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions:
Teaching (70%)
- Teaches a 4/4 course load.
- Provides positive evidence of student learning outcomes.
- Utilizes student instructional assessment surveys (IAS).
- Uses effective course materials as provided in Teaching Portfolio and demonstrates successful learning outcomes.
- Reviews and plans course content as well as prepares all lesson plans.
- Engages in academic advisement to facilitates student success.
- Holds regular office hours.
- Infuses diversity issues into teaching, as pedagogically appropriate.
- Evaluates student performance and provides feedback to enhance skill development.
Service (30%)
- Participates in department level meetings and will serve on at least one additional department committee per academic year.
- Attends University events.
- Engages in enrollment and retention initiatives.
- Actively contributes service to the department, University, community, and profession.
- Attends on-campus and off-campus Open House programs and recruitment events.
- Assists with program accreditation processes.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree by time of appointment in a field related to healthcare administration from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
- Demonstrated experience in training/teaching and online classroom management
- Demonstrated potential for increasing the diversity of the curriculum, student body or faculty through teaching/mentoring
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses related to healthcare administration, or a related field
- Experience in administration/committee management
- Experience in academic advisement
