SUMMARY


The Department of Counselor Education at SUNY Brockport seeks applicants for anticipated part-time adjunct faculty openings. Adjunct faculty teach assigned courses at the designated level (i.e. graduate and/or undergraduate) in the designated semesters. Course formats are in-person, hybrid or online format. Regardless of the course format, Brightspace (the learning management system at SUNY Brockport) is used to organize all course materials for each assigned course.

The specific courses that adjunct faculty teach will be contingent on the number of new students admitted to the Counselor Education programs and the turnover of current faculty.

JOB FUNCTIONS


Roles and responsibilities of adjunct faculty include:
  • Reads and reviews all course-related materials (e.g. required textbooks and articles, manuals) prior to the start of the course.
  • Reads the EDC Adjunct Manual and following the policies and procedures within it
  • Preps weekly lecture materials and activities.
  • Creates the course in Brightspace, including uploading all needed course materials, assignments, and activities, and having all available to students one week prior to the beginning of the course each semester.
  • Daily reviews of all emails received at their SUNY Brockport assigned email address.
  • Responds to all emails within 48 hours of receiving them.
  • Grades all completed assignments from students within one week of receiving them.
  • Provides supportive, developmental, and corrective feedback on academic and professional disposition areas of concern to students as needed throughout the semester.
  • Notifies and collaborates with the EDC Chair on any academic and professional disposition concerns as they arise with students.
  • Completes and monitors all required paperwork, including Course Incomplete and Incomplete Removal forms.
  • Submits students' grades on Banner by the due date of each semester.
  • Consults with the EDC Chair as needed.
  • Other course-related tasks as needed.


REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in counseling or a related field by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching and/or supervision experience
  • Graduated from a CACREP-accredited counseling program

Salary and Benefits:
