Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in Washington State, that provides students with the latest cutting edge skills relevant to today's workplace. LWTech offers ten applied bachelor's degrees, more than 40 associate degrees and 93 professional certificates, in 43 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Coordinator for Clubs and Activities for the Office of Student Life (OSL) is responsible for assisting the OSL team in the development and management of campus activities including the development of unique student life opportunities for all LWTech's student populations. This position will complete duties, while working and supervising student employees, using effective event management skills that support the implementation of campus activities and orientations including: quarterly new student orientations, managing OSL student clubs and organizations activities, creating and implementing OSL signature events, managing digital and real data and resources, and evaluation and assessment. This position reports to the OSL Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Clubs and Organizations

  • Manage OSL's club and organization processes to provide access to all students and support students in club chartering and management processes.
  • Provide resources and hands-on support to train student leaders and club/organization advisors in college processes related to event management, travel policies, risk assessment, and purchasing.

    Signature Event Planning

  • Coordinate the development of short- and long-term planning for the department's quarterly and annual student activities for various student populations including welcome back/information activities, quarterly fairs and festivals.
  • Assist as necessary and requested, OSL full-time staff with other student focused activities.
  • Actively promote involvement and engage identified student populations in college sponsored events and college work groups such as faculty tenure committees, college committees, open houses, commencement/graduation, or other all-campus events.

    Activities Team Management

  • Supervise the student employee activities team which includes meeting weekly with all assigned student employees, offering administrative and supervisory support, and helping problem solve low-level work issues.
  • Coordinate required event set-up for various campus activities.
  • Work with the Director on activities and orientation marketing.

    Office Management

  • Provide a cheerful, enthusiastic, and supportive environment for various OSL initiatives and engage students with campus community resources and activities.
  • Coordinate supply management effort with the OSL Administrative Assistant.
  • Manage the department's activities storage; ensuring supplies are safely stored.
  • Provide information, support and guidance to students, staff, program participants and the public regarding OSL department content, policies, and activities and attend meetings of campus organizations as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records and files, including, but not limited to, activities portfolios, video recordings, and digital files.
  • Coordinate and assist with specialized data gathering and analysis for outcome-based assessment projects, as related to student activity development and college reporting.
  • Prepare narrative and/or statistical reports regarding program operations, evaluations, and student participation. Coordinate a variety of complex projects.
  • Appropriately balance and adjust priorities based on competing demands and regular office interruptions.
  • Assist with the annual Commencement Ceremony.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Sufficient combination of education, work, and lived experience to demonstrate ability to meet the following expectations (generally, competitive candidates will have a bachelor's degree or higher and two or more years of professional experience in higher education):

    - Supervise teams of students
    - Effectively work with individuals of varied ethnicity, ages, educational backgrounds, and abilities
    - Plan small and large events that engage a targeted audience
    - Use technology to improve services to students

  • Superior ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently
  • Confident and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with students and faculty at a community or technical college.

    Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule

    Compensation & Work Schedule

    Salary is $5,044 per month. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. Summer schedule can be condensed to 4 10's, typically with Fridays off. Typically, work hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. This position is eligible for remote/hybrid work subject to supervisor approval.
