Job Description
Student Growth and Retention (40%)
Conduct academic interventions with high risk students, including students experiencing academic and personal difficulty.
Develop an academic plan with students to improve their standing and when on academic warning or probation status or when requested.
Manages, responds, and seeks resolution to referrals and academic updates through the campus early alert system with the College; promotes usage of, and ensures faculty have tools/training needed to utilize the early alert system.
Prepare documentation and facilitate the decision-making process for late withdrawal requests, academic petitions, and credit overload requests.

Advising and Registration (25%)
Individually advise new entering freshman, transfer and returning students or students transitioning majors.
Recommend innovative support strategies for advising in collaboration with College faculty and serve as LASC expert for faculty within College
Communicate with unregistered students each semester via various modes of communication.
Participate in new Student Orientation, Advising and Registration days.

College Recruitment and Admissions (15%)
Represent the College at University recruitment events in coordination with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Serve as a resource for undergraduate freshman, students in transition, and transfer students with questions about programs, careers and educational pathways
Represent and promote the College through one-on-one appointments, tours of the facilities, and meetings with faculty from within the College.
Serve as expert of the complex body of practices and procedures within the university and admission requirements for College.

Liaison/Resource (15%)
Provide support to the Dean as necessary, especially as it relates to policies relating to recruitment, retention, and student success.
Assisting the Dean with College projects as assigned (i.e. trouble-shooting problems in departments and programs, gathering and analyzing data regarding trends in departments
Serve as the knowledge expert relating to programs within the College and MSUM overall.
Serve as a resource to faculty in College. Serve as a College liaison to other University student service areas.

College Strategic Planning (5%)
Develop long-range strategic plans and support effective student retention and completion strategies
Assist College in the planning and implementation of new and existing College and University events, programs, goals and objectives for recruitment and retention.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree plus two years of professional experience working in college-level academic advising, academic support, student retention, career development, orientation, related student services, or admissions.
Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret student data.
Knowledge of student affairs, counseling, higher education leadership, or related field.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in student affairs, counseling, higher education leadership, or other related field.
Demonstrated knowledge of retention programs.
Knowledge of career trends and emergent fields in programs of study assign

NINE-MONTH FACULTY APPOINTMENTS

Along with all other Universities that are part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, standard faculty appointments are for 168 duty days distributed over any nine consecutive months. The nine months need not align with the traditional academic year and may be changed every two years. Initial faculty appointments at MSU Moorhead are expected to be similar to or the same as the academic year unless otherwise indicated on the vacancy notice.
