Position Overview

The School of Education and Human Sciences (SOEHS) is seeking to fill a Student Recruiter position for the Lawrence campus. The successful candidate will need to be able to work independently, have excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. This position will be responsible for designing and implementing the School's recruitment activities for undergraduate programs and assisting departments with graduate recruitment. Working in a dynamic environment (both on-and off campus), this position will generate a recruitment strategy, communicate daily with prospective students and parents in regards to admissions, academic program selection and scholarship eligibility, financial aid, housing and residency requirements, and work with high school and community college counselors. This position will develop recruiting materials and resources for recruitment efforts, conduct presentations, lead admission workshops, receptions and special events along with collecting and analyzing data to grow future outreach efforts to be competitive.

Job Description
70% Student Recruitment for SOEHS

Responsible for generating and executing a comprehensive recruitment strategy, in conjunction with the Marketing Coordinator for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Assists prospective students via phone, emails, letters, virtual or in-person activities, site visits or through personal contact at recruitment events. Serves as contact for drop in visiting of prospective students and families. Coordinates with faculty for tours of facilities. Plans, coordinates, and executes both larger and smaller scale recruiting events.
Develops effective relationships with department Chairs and directors, academic and program coordinators and advisors, admissions, and financial aid. Serves as a liaison with university level recruitment offices and online programs partners.
Develops pipelines with local stakeholders, including school counselors, parents, and community colleges. In coordination with academic advisors, directs transfer students to the appropriate academic coordinator to offer guidance on appropriate courses to take at transfer institutions.
Develops a strong knowledge of undergraduate and graduate programs and admission standards. Serves as a subject-matter expert on recruitment for the SOEHS.
Participates in recruitment activities at community colleges, high schools, and with other pre-professional partners. Identifies new opportunities for connection both on and off-campus, hosting groups on campus and visiting pre-professional partners. Attends all recruitment events that are managed by admissions. Develops recruitment schedule and necessary travel itineraries in scope with a defined budget.
Designs activities to be inclusive and ensures the outreach of recruitment activities are engaging students from underrepresented identities.
Works with the SOEHS Marketing Coordinator to develop marketing material.
Provides support and training to SOEHS faculty and staff in matter related to student recruitment, data management, and transfer articulation agreement, including updating community college transfer guides.
Tracks data on recruitment activities and events to develop a data driven approach to forecast future recruiting efforts.

10% Collaborates with SOEHS Marketing Coordinator
The SOEHS recruiter will collaborate with the marketing coordinator in areas of print materials, data collection and management, website design and content as it relates to the KU admissions process.

10% Oversees the SOEHS Ambassador program and supervises student employees who are involved in recruitment
The SOEHS recruiter will supervise the SOEHS student Ambassador team, a recruitment graduate assistant (when applicable) and collaborate with the SOEHS advising center. They will develop training materials, hire new ambassadors, conduct trainings, and evaluate progress. They will look to help the ambassador team develop professionally and work collaboratively.

5% Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements

This position is designated as hybrid with in-person work located at the Lawrence campus. Position will be subject to travel and working some nights and weekends as needed, typically in the fall and spring.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
At least two years of experience with recruitment, admissions, and/or related work in higher education.
Excellent communication skills as evidenced by the application materials, interview and references.
Experience working with diverse groups of various levels within an organization.
Experience working independently and with little supervision.
Valid drivers license at the time of appointment and maintained throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Higher Education or a related field.
Familiarity with KU and the School of Education and Human Sciences.
Experience with admissions and advising.
Experience with recruitment and/or admissions systems (Slate, etc.)
