LC State invites applications for the position of Residence Director

Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $42,509 (11-month position)

Degree Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university

    Required Qualifications:

  • One year, full-time, professional live-in experience in Residence Life includes experience supervising student staff, advising student groups, and performing crisis intervention.
  • Valid driver's license and appropriate insurance coverage.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Two or more years of similar Residence Life experience including full-time, professional work experience as a related graduate assistantship in a college or university setting.

    Responsibilities:

    The Resident Director (RD) position, under the direction and supervision of the Director of Residence Life, is responsible for the overall program development for students housed on campus at Lewis-Clark State College. The Resident Director will serve as a key member of the residential leadership team. This is a full-time, 11-month position with the 4 weeks off negotiable each year.

    Residence Life maintains a thriving operation that includes oversight of 12-month student housing, summer conference housing, and scheduled facility projects. Departmental leadership is committed to providing the RD with broad-based experience. One of the experiences is to further develop the current Living Learning Communities (LLC) in order to better connect the students in the LLC with the academic division and faculty. This position will also create the 'Up Late at LC State' program, recruiting first-year students to help plan and implement late-night programming on campus and creating a leadership pathway for students as they progress in their academic pursuits.

    RDs are required to reside in a College-provided apartment based on assignment. Apartments come furnished with standard living, dining, and bedroom furniture, including a full-sized bed.

    The Resident Director will have the opportunity to:

  • Assist in the supervision, recruitment, selection, evaluation, discipline, and promotion of the development of Resident Assistants and Program Assistants, Residence Hall Association, and 2 undergraduate Residence Directors.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the Residence Life fall and spring trainings, and team development throughout the academic year.
  • Manage the daily operations of a residential hall/area.
  • Administer an educational/social programming budget as determined by the Director of Residence Life.
  • Monitor student behavior in accordance with College and Residence Life policy, and serve as the primary student conduct officer for the hall/area for low-level offenses.
  • Maintain an active presence and participate in student life programming initiatives on campus, including building an evening and weekend programming culture.

    Benefits:

    In addition to a $42,366/year salary, RD's will live on campus in a one/two-bedroom apartment in one of the residence halls. A parking pass is provided by Residence Life. RD's are required to engage with students while dining in the College's dining hall. Residence Life provides a meal plan during the academic year and training periods to assist with the fulfillment of this requirement.
