Detailed Job Description
Please note, occasional nights and weekends may be required for program supervision.

The Program Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Director for Club Sports and Intramurals. The Coordinator will have a direct role in the day-to-day management of the Intramural Sports program as well as the research, development and operation of related programs. Through regular training and continued development opportunities, the Coordinator will increase the overall knowledge of the student staff to ensure we continue to offer a meaningful and impactful program. The Coordinator will also manage participant registration, scheduling, and management of leagues and contests. The Program Coordinator hires, trains, evaluates and supervises a student staff of ~80 student employees.

Student Staff Management and Leadership Development:
  • Hire, train, evaluate and supervise Intramural officials, sport supervisors, managers and additional sport program staff.
  • Coordinate scheduling staff and officials. Review and approve bi-weekly timecard, payroll and monthly Oracle reports.
  • Schedule and lead Intramural captains meetings.
  • Schedule and lead Intramural officials, supervisors and managers meetings.
  • Coordinate recognition of Intramural participants and student employees.
  • Coordinate and execute the development and implementation of an outcomes based competency development program for student staff and leaders
Program Management and Operations:
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Intramural program and development of future offerings, programs, trainings and services as necessary.
  • Actively investigate, develop and implement new sources of revenue.
  • Coordinate facilities reservations for Intramurals and programs as well as any required staff trainings or certifications.
  • Directly oversee program registration including scheduling and management of all leagues and tournaments on recreation management software.
  • Document and execute compliance and training requirements of Intramural participants, staff and student employees.
  • Document participant or staff management issues and discuss assignment of potential disciplinary outcomes with Associate Director.
  • Ensure sport programs are in accordance with County, State and National guidelines.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of program assessment.
  • Coordinate equipment inventory repair and provide recommendations to Associate Director and Financial Assistant for procurement.
Marketing and Communications:
  • Communicate with intramural teams regarding scheduling, registration, and game issues, as well as disciplinary actions.
  • Assist with providing content to various media outlets both within and outside of the Division of Student Affairs to aid in the story telling of the program and the university's brand recognition.
Other:
  • Collaborate and communicate with RIT operating units both inside and outside of Student Wellness.
  • Collaborate and communicate with external Intramurals partners and recreation professionals.
  • Attend Center for Recreational Sports, Student Wellness, and Student Affairs Divisional meetings as scheduled.
  • Participate in professional development activities pertinent to the role.
  • Provide direct oversight of student employee handbooks.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelors degree in Recreation & Leisure Management, Athletic Administration or related field.

Experience:
  • 2-3 Years of professional experience administering a college intramural, camp, clinic and/or club sports program, including experience managing staff, programming and special events.

Skills:
  • Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information
  • Effective interpersonal, written and electronic communications skills
  • Ability to convey complex information with diverse audiences
  • Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups
  • Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office and enterprise systems in support of functions
