Graduate Program Advisor

Position Description


This position provides advising and student services to current graduate students of the Albers School. This position reports to Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs.. Position requires some flexibility for evening and Saturdays as needed for advising and recruiting events. Primary functions include

Advising:
The advisor is responsible for new student orientation process, and current student advising process. In addition, advises and counsels current students on university policies, degree requirements, professional development and curriculum issues such as class selection, prerequisites, and course sequencing. Prepares materials, schedules and conducts multiple new student Advising Orientation sessions. Evaluates transcripts of admitted students for eligibility of waivers.

Student Services:
The advisor is responsible for managing various student services and tracks completion of program requirements through quarterly audits. Organizes and manages programs, (ie. Education Abroad, Graduate Leadership Formation, and specific events as needed). Updates printed materials such as schedules and graduate resources. Represents graduate programs office and Co-directs with school and university-wide events such as quarterly Graduate Welcome Events and Albers Graduation Reception.

Recruitment / Admissions:
Represents the online programs at Graduate Open Houses and educational fairs. Interfaces with Albers and the Online Program Management (OPM) Directors of Marketing. Processes all new online program applications on a weekly basis

Interfaces with our OPM:
Works closely with Admissions and Operations departments in OPM to ensure a seamless student experience during admissions, onboarding and being a student in the online programs

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Bachelor's degree. Two years previous experience with responsibility for program coordination and academic advising, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to multi-task. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work with a diverse and mature student population and with the outside business community. Transportation to off-campus events may be required.

Ideal candidate will have Master's degree in Higher Education or Student Development and/or work experience in an institution.
