Job Overview:
The Director of Residential Life and Community Standards provides strategic leadership in the development and implementation of comprehensive residential life, housing operations, and community standards operations with a strong emphasis on enhancing students' sense of belonging and community, academic success, health and wellness, personal responsibility, and safety. The Director works collaboratively with various departments on campus to develop and maintain College policies and the student code of conduct, as well as to promote practices and procedures that support students' wellness, good citizenship, and retention.

Essential Functions:
Provide leadership, vision, and direction for all areas of oversight, including the development and maintenance of strategic plans, learning outcomes, and assessment strategies
Provide direct supervision to the Residence Hall Director and Deputy Title IX Coordinator and indirectly, two Graduate Residence Hall Directors and 15 Resident Assistants
Oversee a community development model that addresses the physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual needs of students
Evaluate and assess housing occupancy, retention, and projection trends
Collect and analyze assessment data to continuously inform strategic planning
Develop, administer, and maintain departmental budget
Provide emergency response, assisting with the management of student and campus crisis situations, in cooperation with other departments
Facilitate personal and professional development training for all residential life staff members ensuring that they serve as effective role models, mentors, and leaders for residents.
Serve as the primary conduct officer by investigating violations of the Student Code of Conduct and Residential Life policies
Work in close collaboration with Campus Public Safety to address community standard concerns
Implement preventative educational programming relating to the student code of conduct
Maintain files on all disciplinary cases, informational incident reports, and track all sanctions and judicial outcomes
Assist with the organization, training, and coordination of Conduct Board members and the adjudication or case appeals process with the College's Conduct Board
Coordinate annual review and revisions of the Student Handbook and code of conduct
Collaborate with various constituents in the support of student engagement in areas of intercultural learning, inclusion, and conflict resolution
Serve on various campus wide committees including but not limited to: At-Risk Student Committee, New Student Events Committee
Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:
A Master's degree is required. Preferably in Higher Education, Counseling, or other related areas.
3-5 years of experience in Student Affairs is required.
Leadership experience in residential life; experience in developing and implementing college conduct policies; prior supervisory or administrative oversight experience is required.
Propensity to focus particularly on student success and development; customer service oriented; ability to maintain confidentiality; strong verbal and written communication skills; experience implementing/developing college policies and procedures; background in college conduct; supervisory experience required; background working in a student wellness environment preferred. Evidence of successful leadership experience in residence life, student life or related departments. Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule and be able to handle multiple challenges with professional prioritization


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Background in student conduct within a residential life setting; familiarity with college conduct trends; excellent communications, counseling and administrative skills; experience with community development and progressive residential life experience; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others and cross-functional departments; excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds with multifaceted needs; computer proficiency in Microsoft Suites required; proficiency in Ellucian Systems and various social media platforms preferred.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:
M-F 8:30-4:30, flexibility is essential, late hours as well as occasional evening and weekend hours are required.
