The Coordinator, Student Engagement (Clubs & Organizations) contributes to the student engagement portfolio, which supports students as they engage in learning outside of classroom, make meaning of their collegiate experience, and develop pride and affinity for Babson College. Specifically responsible for supporting the registration, oversight, and leadership development of student clubs and organizations; providing training and support for club and organization advisors; serving as the primary owner of CampusGroups software; and providing support to campus-wide programming initiatives.

WHAT YOU WILL DO




  • Oversee all aspects of clubs and organizations, including but not limited to: independently creating trainings and manuals for student leaders and advisors (e.g., in person and Canvas trainings on budget management, P-Card spending, marketing of events, and contracts); managing the annual registration/re-registration process (e.g., hazing policies and the advisor agreement form detailing the role as Campus Security Authorities required by the Clery Act); coordinating and implementing campus-wide programming/event planning; providing budget support for individual student organization budgets (e.g., alumni gift donations to ensure appropriate spending and access to the funds); managing all contracting and risk management waivers for club and org programming both on and off campus; and independently designing and delivering training for Student Life Staff Advisors.

  • Independently oversee administration of CampusGroups, the EMS technology system related to student reservations, including monitoring usage and making recommendations based on research gathered; conducting training sessions; and working with campus partners on implementing and trouble shooting.

  • Co-advise the Student Government Association (SGA) alongside the Director, ensuring that the student voice is appropriately recognized in campus dialogue and decision-making around policies, academic experience, and student satisfaction; supports the club/org utilization of more than $1,000,000 annually, including specific gift funded accounts.

  • Manage the design, implementation, and assessment of the First Year/Senior Retreat; recruit and train Senior facilitators; and develop the program content in partnership with campus partners and student facilitators.

  • Plan and facilitate major departmental events such as the Club/Organizational Fairs, Late Night Breakfast(s) and Best of Babson. Responsible for program design, marketing and communication, vendor contracts, and other event logistics, which have a significant impact on the reach and depth of student programming.

  • Chair committee of campus partners supporting the interests of the 100+ clubs/organizations on campus, including BabsonArts, Multicultural and Identity Programs, Club Sports, Religious and Spiritual Life, and Fraternity and Sorority Life; responsibilities include but are not limited to annual calendar planning, training on Student Engagement policies and best practice for student organizations, current programming challenges and trends, and support of club/organization development initiatives.

  • Manage College fleet vehicle program, including but not limited to: reservation system and request approval, vehicle maintenance in partnership with Facilities and Public Safety, and student accountability; support the Driver and Vehicle Use Policy through regular review, also serving on the committee.

  • Support special interest and living learning communities, which includes advising, evaluating, and ensuring integrity in these specialty communities; and identifying new and relevant opportunities for the College to better meet the needs of students, while focusing on student success, affinity, and satisfaction.

  • Serve as an investigator as needed (typically a few times each academic year) for and club or organization policy violations, which includes gathering initial information and working with community standards and the hearing officers.

  • Actively support departmental programs and initiatives including but not limited to: new student orientation, club and organization training, theme week programming, and large-scale department supported events; lead one other departmental project or program as determined annually.

  • Maintain collaborative partnerships with campus colleagues in areas, including but not limited to: Residence Life, Facilities, Public Safety, Wellness and Prevention Services, ITSD, Facilities, and Campus and Community Events when organizing campus-wide events.

  • Serve on divisional and campus wide committees, including but not limited to Driver Certification Committee.

  • Advise and counsel students on personal, academic, and community matters. Make referrals as needed.

  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.






WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED


Bachelor's degree


At least 1-3 years of relevant experience (graduate assistantship experience is considered)


Must have knowledge of student group advisement and organizational development; student and staff training development; student leadership program development; and student development theory.


Must have a demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive student body, faculty, staff, and other constituents.


Must have experience with project and program management and evaluation skills.


Demonstrated strengths in public speaking and presenting; and excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.


Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty, administration, staff, parents and alumni. Special emphasis in the following areas: Public Safety, Physical Plant, Student Financial Services, Office of Academic Services, Budgets and Accounts Payable, Event Management Office and Alumni and Friends Network.


Ability to embrace ideas and changes created by all community members.


Requires competency on issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (DEIA), and the ability to serve the unique needs of a diverse student population.


Ability to envision and propose new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A; take thoughtful risks; and accept new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.


Ability to anticipate and embrace change; demonstrate willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.


Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).


HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK


All Babson College faculty and staff authorized to work on campus must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19,including any appropriate boosters. This is a 12- month, full-time position which requires regular late evening and/or weekend work.
