Description:

This position is responsible for assisting in the management of a comprehensive Student Activities Department, primarily overseeing Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL), Student Organizations, Service and Leadership as well as the administrative functions of the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director with the management of the Student Activities department in the development of departmental budgets, goals, policies, contract administration and assessment of programs.
  • Coordinate, oversee, and advise the FSL program, including staffing, budgets and conduct issues. Provide support and guidance to staff directly responsible for the three councils and Order of Omega.
  • Advise at least one of the three Greek Councils.
  • Oversee Student Organizations including providing support and guidance to staff directly responsible for UCSO, budgets and conduct.
  • Oversee Leadership and Service Programs including providing support and guidance to staff directly responsible for the Student Volunteer Connection, Alternative Breaks, and Leadership Programs including the National Society for Leadership & Success Chapter.
  • Hire, schedule, train, supervise, and evaluate both full-time and student employees.
  • Write, evaluate, and implement policies and procedures. Administer risk management for areas under supervision and oversee the student organization conduct process.
  • Serve on university councils and committees and assist with special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Assistant Level:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Six (6) years of related experience in a higher Ed student affairs environment.
  • Additional education may be considered as a substitution for the minimum requirements.
    • Masters degree and Four (4) years of related experience in a higher Ed student affairs environment.


Associate Level:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Eight (8) years of related experience in a higher Ed student affairs environment.
  • Additional education may be considered as a substitution for the minimum requirements.
    • Masters degree and six (6) years of related experience in a higher Ed student affairs environment.
    • Doctoral degree and four (4) years of related experience in a higher Ed student affairs environment.


Other:
  • Strong interpersonal skills to be able to build relationships with students, staff, faculty, administration, and community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of risk management, experiential learning, and assessment techniques in higher education administration.
  • Ability to perform administrative duties such as budgets and expenditures of resources, planning, and have excellent organizational skills.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), assessments, and databases.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field
  • Experience in a student union and/or student activities environment including programming and using student development theory.
  • Experience advising Fraternities/ Sororities and student organizations and with a student organization conduct process.
  • Experience with a student organization management system such as Anthology's Engage.
  • Managerial/supervisory experience with full-time and student staff.


Salary:
  • Assistant Level - $4,000 - $4,333.34 monthly ($48,000 -$52,000 annually)
  • Associate Level -- $4,833.34 - $5,250 monthly ($58,000 -$63,000 annually)
