Academic Advising and Registrar Student Services Support

Classification: Temporary Support Staff - 29 hours per week - Limited Term through September 1, 2020.

Reports to: Director of Academic Advising Services and Registrar


Description: The Academic Advising and Registrar Student Services Support will aid in the support of Carroll University student in both Academic Advising Services and the Registrar's Office. This individual will aid in the advising of first year student while also assisting with data cleanup and student registration.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Advise first-year exploring, major-changers and program intended students.
  • Provide regular advising drop-in' hours throughout each semester.
  • Support student advising-related program growth and development through:
    o Collaboration with university-wide faculty and professional academic advisors.
    o Collaboration with International Education, the Office of General Education, Career Services, Learning Commons, Office of Student Success, Residence Life, Spiritual Life and Admissions professionals.
    o Facilitation of student programming including the Exploring Program
    o Assist with maintaining accurate advising supplemental materials.
  • Assist in the administration and facilitation of incoming student Advising & Registration and Preview Day programming.
  • Participate in a flexible schedule over the course of the academic year, at times including evenings and weekend programming efforts.
  • Perform other advising and registrar's office related projects and duties as assigned.
  • Document Imaging records management.
  • Preform Data cleanup for Campus Management Implementation.
  • Aid in registration support by working with registration set up and registration of new and continuing students.


    Qualifications:
    Education, Experience & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1-2 years of academic advising or comparable experience.

    Technology Skills:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to use University software to create and maintain student advising and full academic record.

    Human Relations Skills:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to excellence and accountability in student academic advising.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with leadership, management, students, parents, faculty and staff through a consultative, collaborative and active-problem solving approach.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of students, parents and colleagues.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with students and their families when appropriate.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, organize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent professional judgement.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
