Advising
  • Serve as the primary adviser to the Colgate Speaking Union and other debate and team-based competitive student organizations.
  • Complete all the necessary paperwork, travel forms, and other documentation needed for students to engage in domestic and international travel.
  • Provide oversight, compliance, and active leadership development of student organizations.
  • Advise and consult with student organization officers regarding programming initiatives and activities, travel, and organizational growth and development.
  • Work to mitigate travel risks in partnership with the Office of Risk Management and Legal Affairs.
  • Provide budget and financial counsel, resources, and expertise in guiding the evolution and transition of student leadership and student organization projects.
  • Institute strategic measures to ensure financial responsibility among student organizations.
  • Review and execute performance and service contracts in conjunction with the Director and the Office of Finance and Administration.



Program and Event Management
  • In collaboration with the student organization leaders, the Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning, execution, and assessment of on-campus events, programs, speech or debate competitions, etc.
  • Assist with building partnerships and collaborations with campus partners to provide campus-wide programs and events designed to build community, promote leadership, foster engagement and student success.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and assessment of large, annual events for the campus community, involving students, staff, faculty, and alumni; including new Student Orientation, Welcome Week Events, Homecoming, Dancefest, and other student and staff-initiated University-wide events.

Assessment and Finance
  • Institute strategic measures to ensure financial responsibility is accomplished among the student organizations.
  • Develop an assessment plan to measure the effectiveness of initiatives and programs. Support collection of data and develop and implement program assessment plans to evaluate student learning outcomes and student satisfaction utilizing these data.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Process financial payments and reports Prepare reports, provide research, and complete projects as assigned.
  • Participate in department-wide planning of programs and initiatives while collaborating with others to ensure high-quality events and services to students.
  • Support the work of the department through committees, division or University task forces, and other special assignments.
  • Work in concert with other campus partners to ensure high quality service to students, staff, and guests.
  • Travel with student organizations as required.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends, as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), in accordance with the federal statutory requirements of the Jeanne Clery Act. CSAs are required to and responsible for reporting allegations of crimes they receive from students and employees to the Campus Safety Department.
